Your mission

Data engineering is your passion and you love to make sure that data can be turned into a valuable asset? Become our key person to build robust data pipelines that underpin our activities to gain deep analytical insights. You have an engineering mindset and apply software development principles to your work - pair programming, code reviews, as well as high test coverage are your standard ways of working. You love to work in agile teams and deliver in short iterations valuable increments.

Your tasks

  • You will be responsible for the design, development and maintenance of ongoing data models, metrics, reports, analyses, etc. with a variety of big data and business intelligence technologies to drive key business decisions
  • Recognize and adopt best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation through our modern cloud stack
  • You work closely with our Data Analysts and Data Scientists to support them to optimize our customers' processes
  • You are the first point of contact for the business analysts for error analysis and troubleshooting when it comes to the data pipelines delivering their data

Our Tech Stack: Spark, Python, Scala, Azure Cloud, Databricks, MS Analysis Service, MS Synapse, MS SQL

Your profile

  • 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer with a university degree (preferably a Master degree) in Computer Science or any related field
  • Expert knowledge in working with Spark, SQL, and programming experience with Scala or Python
  • Expert knowledge in developing, deploying and performance tuning of ELT pipelines using data pipeline orchestration tools in a distributed system
  • Strong experience with agile development, software development, clean coding practice
  • Excellent working knowledge of relational database systems and of DWH modeling approaches
  • Hands-on experience of data models and analysis concepts (Conceptual, Logical, Physical) using proven techniques and modern tools
  • Experience with Azure Synapse SQL, Azure Analysis Services and the Azure Cloud Platform
  • Experience in handling structured and unstructured data from different sources
  • You love to work with multiple teams in high visibility roles and own end-to-end data solutions
  • You love to define and manage pipeline schedules and the availability of all data sets

Bonus Points:

  • Experience deploying and making available machine learning pipelines via APIs
  • Working knowledge of Kafka or other stream processing frameworks, Kubernetes and Docker

Getting to know each other

If you pass the first phone interview, you will be invited to visit us in Cologne. During our Peer and Company fit interviews, you will get to know not only your potential future team, but also people from other teams. You will have the opportunity to introduce yourself, your skills as well as your field through a technical challenge. During these conversations (a Peer interview and a Company fit interview), you will get all the information you want about the position you applied for and our company culture. If the team makes a positive decision, there will be a final interview with the leadership team.
