Your Mission

As the “Unit Lead – Tech and Engineering” you will be mainly responsible and accountable for the successful delivery of software & the corresponding infrastructure as well as the overall transformation of our Tech Stack. You will also be managing and guiding a sizeable dynamic and international team through a journey of hypergrowth and process optimization.

Your Task

  • Building the capability within Tech & Engineering to drive change and achieve greater effectiveness by developing, improving, and reinforcing strategies, structures and processes within an engaging, high energy environment and growing company
  • Together with the management board, guiding the organization to success by reaching our strategic goal
  • Driving technology modernizations and state-of-the-art architecture implementations while ensuring solid availability level of all services
  • Defining company OKRs, ensure they are met and horizontally aligned to secure quarterly focus
  • Motivating others to achieve the organization’s goals; recognizes and rewards contributions
  • Developing capable, diverse, and cohesive team through servant leadership to maximize collective skills and talents
  • Making decisions within a reasonable timeframe and create relevant options for addressing problems/opportunities and achieving desired outcomes when necessary
  • Reviewing and applying best practices to establish architecture and frameworks consistent with and supportive of our Product Strategy
  • Identifying and implementing technology trends that will be able to support the future success of the business.

Your Profile

  • Proven and strong Tech & Engineering management background (the role of CTO, Director) or proven experience knowing and understanding challenges of engineering organizations in the fast growing and changing environment/during hypergrowth
  • Proven experience in working in an agile environment where you lead change, facilitate and guide teams/projects
  • Experience in building and driving large scale people programs aimed at building strong engineering culture, improving engineering ways of working, org design, collaboration
  • Data-driven to evaluate product-market fit and other aspects of product performance, able to identify insights that will influence future decisions
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present a technology vision confidently in a way that motivates others both internally and externally
  • An ability to research and predict the ways that different technologies can impact an organisation's development.
  • Experience in FTE and License budget planning
  • Strong interpersonal skills, agile mindset and the ability to share/collaborate with peers
  • Have a proven understanding of best engineering practices for the full software development life cycle (SDLC), including coding standards, code review, source control, build, test, deploy, and operations
  • In-depth understanding and decision-making skills regarding large-scale software architectures (Event Streaming, Microservices, Data Platforms etc.)
  • Excellent leadership, team building, and management skills, including a track record of coaching and mentorship.

Getting to know each other

If you pass the first phone interview, you will be invited to visit us in Cologne. During our Peer and Company fit interviews, you will get to know not only your potential future team, but also people from other teams. You will have the opportunity to introduce yourself, your skills as well as your field through a technical challenge. During these conversations (a Peer interview and a Company fit interview), you will get all the information you want about the position you applied for and our company culture. If the team makes a positive decision, there will be a final interview with the leadership team.
